The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has condemned the attack on the founder of the Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman.
Obi, in his reaction to the incident in a post on his Twitter account, noted that the attack on Apostle Suleman underscores the level of insecurity in our nation.
He further stated that ugly acts like that on the cleric are reported across the country daily.
The former Governor of Anambra State noted that such acts of terrorism, violence and criminality are highly condemnable.
According to Obi, the level of insecurity in the country has affected the progress of Nigeria.
He restated his commitment to fighting against insecurity if he emerges as President in 2023.
Expressing sadness over people who lost their lives in the incident, Obi prayed that God will grant them eternal rest.
The presidential candidate called on security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of such acts and bring them to book.
Naija News recalls that gunmen last week in Edo State attacked the convoy of the cleric.
The incident led to the death of seven people, including three police officers.
Obi in the post wrote, “The recent attack on the Founder of Omega Fire Ministries, @APOSTLESULEMAN, underscores the level of insecurity in our nation. Ugly acts like these are reported from different parts of the country on a daily basis, and it is saddening.
“Such acts of terrorism, violence and criminality are highly condemnable. The high level of insecurity that has continued to plague our nation has continued to clog up the nation’s wheel of progress.
“I restate my commitment to the fight against insecurity as my first priority in governance when voted into power. I am saddened by the lives lost during the attack; one life lost to insecurity is one too many. I pray to God to grant the victims eternal rest.
“May God also comfort the bereaved families. I call on the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of such acts and bring them to book.”
