The Benue State police command has confirmed the abduction of the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development in the state, Ekpe Ogbu.
Naija News had earlier reported that some unidentified gunmen abducted the Commissioner and three others at Adankari junction along Ado-Otukpo road at about 9 pm on Sunday.
The Commissioner’s driver and one of his brothers-in-law, Agbo Ode were part of the victims abducted.
The incident was confirmed by the spokesman of the state police command, Sewuese Anene while addressing newsmen in Makurdi on Monday.
According to Anene, police operatives are on their way to the location where the commissioner was abducted.
Anene said, “Incident confirmed. We are on our way to the area. I will give you more information when we get there.”
There were claims that the Commissioner had attended a Church program, where the lawmaker representing Benue South Senatorial district, Abba Moro had dedicated his Campaign Council to God at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Otukpo.
Ogbu after the church program was reportedly heading back to his village in Ndekma, Utonkon in Ado LGA when he was abducted.
The Hilux van in which the Commissioner was travelling , has been recovered, but his whereabouts and others are unknown.
