The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, was on Tuesday absent from the funeral of Wagner Boss, Yevgeny Prigozhin.
Naija News recall that a plane crash involving Prigozhin happened in the Bologovsky district in the Tver region, 60 miles north of Moscow on the 23rd of August 2023.
Prigozhin died alongside seven passengers and three crew who were on board the Embraer aircraft.
Russian officials on the 27th of August, 2033 confirmed the death of Prigozhin after genetic analysis of bodies found in Wednesday’s plane crash.
A closed-door “farewell ceremony” was held Tuesday to honour the life of the 62-year-old mercenary chief, who recently launched one of the most significant challenges to Putin’s authority in his more than 20 years of rule.
Prigozhin’s spokespeople confirmed the services were carried out and urged those who still wish to pay their respects to visit the Porokhovskoye cemetery in Prigozhin’s hometown of St. Petersburg.
His press service wrote in a short post on Telegram, “The farewell to Yevgeny Viktorovich took place in a closed format. Those who wish to say goodbye may visit Porokhovskoye cemetery.”
