The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara is currently in an emergency meeting with some lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Naija News understands that the meeting is coming amidst the move to impeach the Rivers State Governor.
There have been speculations that some lawmakers in the state House of Assembly have plans to impeach Fubara who had allegedly fallen out with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Meanwhile, the suspended leader of the House, Edison Ehie is also in the meeting.
Ehie was suspended on Monday, over his alleged complicity in the arson attack on the assembly on Sunday night.
Ehie, a strong supporter of Governor Similanayi Fubara, was said to have frustrated the initial attempt to initiate impeachment proceedings against the governor.
Announcing the removal of the majority leader at a sitting on Monday morning, the Speaker, Martins Amaehwule, said Ehie was removed for not attending the assembly sitting and for his alleged complicity in the arson attack on the assembly.
Speaker Amaehwule said about 17 members of the House supported the removal of the house leader.
Naija News understands that the meeting may not be unconnected with the recent crisis rocking the political space in the state.
At the time of filing this report the reason for the meeting has not been disclosed.
