The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has advised the citizens of the state against applying for a fake ₦25,000 Christmas grant being advertised on social media.
Naija News reports that the advert said Governor Otti approved ₦25,000 Christmas cash grant for the people of Abia, with a link provided for interested persons to apply.
However, the Abia State government disowned the advert, describing those behind it as criminals.
A statement signed by Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Otti, on Friday, explained that the offer was a deliberate criminal attempt to deceive and scam the unsuspecting public.
Ukoha advised the public in Abia to shun the fake ₦25,000 offer, stating that security agencies have been alerted to investigate and arrest those behind the scam.
He further emphasized that all social investment, welfare, and intervention programmes of the governor and the government of Abia State are published on the official website of the Abia State government.
Meanwhile, Governor Otti has assured that his administration would continue to implement policies that would improve the lives of the Abia people.
At the groundbreaking ceremony of Abia Airport, in Ubaha Nsulu, on Tuesday, the Labour Party Governor said the airport would contribute hugely to the state’s economic prosperity.
