Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury Talk Tough Ahead Of Tonight’s Rematch

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury said he aims to deliver a powerful and destructive performance in his highly anticipated rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

This clash comes after Oleksandr Usyk narrowly defeated Tyson Fury in May, winning by a split decision and earning the title of undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

The rematch is set to unfold this Saturday as part of the Riyadh Season event, with the bout available for viewing on Sky Sports Box Office.

In this significant showdown, Usyk’s WBO, WBA, and WBC titles will be at stake. Fury, motivated by a strong desire for revenge, has indicated that he has intentionally added weight ahead of the fight to enhance the power behind his punches.

“When a 20th man hits you on the jaw, compared to a man at 17th, it’s a bit different,” Fury remarked during an interview with Sky Sports, emphasizing his strategy to maximize the impact of his strikes through increased weight.

On the other hand, Usyk remains cool and unperturbed by Fury’s intimidation tactics. “I know things will be different this time. For me, I’m training like I’m preparing to face a walking fortress,” Usyk told Sky Sports.

He acknowledged the rigorous training regimen he has undertaken, fully aware that his opponent will present a new challenge. “I’m working hard, really hard, because I know my opponent’s going to be different. But I won’t be the same guy I was in the first fight,” he asserted, hinting at his evolved strategy for this rematch.

Despite the changes, Fury seems to welcome the challenge, expressing a desire to face the best version of Usyk. “I want him to be the best he’s ever been. I hope I get the best version,” the Briton declared.

Fury added, “It’s always round 13 in a rematch, I suppose. I’ve had plenty of them. Round 13 for sure. And I was coming on strong in the last round too. So it should be a good round for me the first one.”

Note that the Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk rematch will commence at 11 p.m. UK time later tonight, December 21.
