Activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has attributed the feud between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, to the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Speaking on Glitch Africa Studio’s podcast, The Honest Bunch, Adeyanju alleged that the IGR figures during their respective tenures as governor are fueling the clash.
Adeyanju also took a swipe at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing it as a “political party” aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The strained relationship between Wike and Fubara has been a topic of speculation, with many linking it to political control and financial influence in Rivers State.
According to Adeyanju: “If you give INEC water, they will turn it into wine, there is nothing INEC can’t do; what INEC can’t do does not exist.
“INEC is a political party and the current INEC is APC.
“Wike is fighting Fubara because about a year ago, he was declaring N11 billion as IGR. The same Fubara is declaring N27 billion and you say they should not fight?”
