The Nigeria Police Force has reportedly moved Nigerian singer, Speed Darlington, from Owerri, Imo State, to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Naija News reported that the police re-arrested Darlington in Owerri, Imo State, on his return to Nigeria for a show.
A top source who spoke to SaharaReporters said the singer was on Wednesday moved from Owerri to the Police Force Intelligence Department (FID).
The Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) in charge of FID, Dasuki Galadanchi, was said to have personally taken over Darlington’s case files from the police unit that arrested him before.
The source said, “Speed Darlington is being moved to Abuja. He is being prosecuted by DIG Dasuki Galadanchi who said his (Darlington) punishment was too short before they granted him bail the last time.”
Another source added, “The DIG personally took over his case files from the police department that arrested him and initially detained him in Abuja.”
Why Speed Darlington Was Re-arrested
Meanwhile, Stan Alieke, the counsel to controversial Nigerian singer, Speed Darlington, has said the musician was re-arrested in Owerri, Imo state, last night over allegations of jumping bail.
Naija News recalls that Darlington was arrested in October over a petition filed against him by his colleague, Burna Boy.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Alieke said the singer was granted administrative bail on October after being illegally detained for five days in connection with the Burna Boy’s incident.
Alieke said his client was given a date to report back but was unable to do so due to a medical emergency that required him to travel abroad for treatment.
The lawyer stated that Darlington had no intention to jump bail, stressing he had arranged to return to Abuja after his performance at Owerri.
