Show promoter, Paul Okoye, better known as Paul O, has slammed Nigerians criticizing Davido for advising people in the diaspora not to relocate to Nigeria.
Naija News reported that Davido recently warned black Americans against relocating amidst the growing interest in returning to Africa.
Davido, during an interview on ‘The Big Homies House’ podcast, expressed scepticism about the trend, citing the current challenges facing the continent, particularly in his home country, Nigeria.
Speaking further from experience as someone raised in Nigeria after being born in Atlanta, Georgia, the singer added, “It’s not cool back home…The economy now is in shambles.”
The comment generated controversy online, with many Nigerians attacking Davido and claiming such a statement could deter foreign investors from coming to Nigeria.
However, Paulo, in a post via his Instagram page, took Davido’s side, describing the singer’s critics as ‘mad people.’
According to the music executive, Davido spoke the truth, noting that with global companies leaving and local businesses facing significant losses, the country is clearly facing challenges.
He wrote, “Please make una leave Davido. Mad people. Davido spoke the truth. Nigeria’s current economic state is sooo bad and with global companies leaving the local businesses facing significant losses, it’s clear we’re facing challenges. Let’s acknowledge the reality and work towards a better future. God bless Nigeria.”
