The Confederation of African Football (CAF), has officially announced that Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania have been selected as the co-hosts for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The 2024 CHAN is scheduled to take place from February 1 to February 28, 2025. CAF has assured that the host stadiums and training venues will be ready and announced in the near future.
In terms of the qualifiers, the first round of the 2024 African Nations Championship is set to commence on the weekend of 25-27 October 2024 and 1-3 November 2024. Following this, the second round of qualifiers will be held on 20-22 December and 27-29 December 2024.
Note that Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will not only serve as hosts but will also participate in the qualifiers. However, they have all earned automatic qualification to the competition thanks to their status as hosts.
This decision adds an extra layer of anticipation and excitement to the upcoming championship which is organized for players plying their trade in their national league competitions.
Note that since the competition started in 2009, the CHAN Eagles of Nigeria have not won the tournament. DR Congo and Morocco are the countries that have one the biannual competition twice, making them the most successful.
Other winners of the tournament are Tunisia, Libya and reigning champions, Senegal.
