Six Top Nigerian Celebrities Who Dumped Engineering For Fame

The trend of not practicing the course of study after University graduation is not different for some Nigerian top celebrities.

However, many celebrities who found themselves in this category are also dominating the entertainment industry.

In this article, Naija News highlights six celebrities that are trained engineers from reputable Universities in the country.

1.  Tonto Dikeh: The controversial actress cum politician hails from River State. She studied petrochemical engineering at Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RUST).

Notwithstanding her academic background, the thespian has been featured in numerous Nollywood movies, showing outstanding performance.

2. Kizz Daniels: The award-winning singer rose to fame in 2014 with his debut single, ‘Woju’. He signed a record deal with G-Worldwide Entertainment in 2013 but left the label following a publicized contract dispute and court case.

Kizz Daniel graduated from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, in 2013, with a degree in Water Resources Management and Agrometeorology (Water Engineering).

3. Banky W: The actor cum politician began singing at a young age in his church choir.

He studied Industrial Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York on scholarship.

While in college, Banky W started his record label E.M.E and won numerous musical competitions in college.

4. Etinosa Idemudia: The actress and social brand influencer is best known for her role as Akugbe in the ROK original series, ‘Blood of Enogie’, for which she won the award for Best Actress in a TV Series, at the Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards.

She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Covenant University in 2011 and also studied at Royal Arts Academy where she obtained a Diploma in Performing Arts in 2016.

5. Nkem Owoh: With over two decades in Nollywood, Nkem Owoh is still a household name among many movie lovers. He attended the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, and studied engineering.

6.  Okey Bakassi: The Imo-born standup comedian cum actor has won numerous awards in the entertainment industry.

He also obtained a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural engineering in 1992 at Rivers State University of Science and Technology.
