2023: What Nigerians Should Do Before Choosing Prefered Presidential Candidate – Fashola

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has advised Nigerians to use the antecedents of the presidential candidates to choose the next President.

Fashola gave the piece of advice on Wednesday in Abuja, at the 2022 annual lecture of the Epiphany Azinge Foundation and public presentation of the book, “Azinge: Born to Serve.”

He called on the electorates to make the right choice by voting for someone who had been tried and tested before, adding that leadership is about responsibility and capacity.

Speaking on the theme, Leadership, and Service to Humanity, the former Governor of Lagos State stressed that responsibility was the core of leadership.

He said, “I urge Nigerians to make their choice of a candidate from the presidential front-liners by critically assessing the impact of their past performances and responsibilities while in office.

“Since the frontline presidential candidates had been governors for eight years, the electorate should use their performance in judging who was best for the position of president.”

Speaking on the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, Fashola stated that the Nigerian leader has done credibly well for Nigerians.

He said: “About seven years ago, a journey of 127 km from Lagos to Ibadan, which should take just about 90 minutes, was a venture of trepidation.

“You were not sure if you set out at dawn or whether you would get there before nightfall. But now you can travel with ease.”
