The recent visit of members of the opposition party, starting from the governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has raised questions in the Peoples Democratic Party.
Wike has remained silent on the activities of the PDP after losing the presidential ticket of the party to Atiku Abubakar and the opportunity of emerging as the party’s vice-presidential candidate.
Recall that former Vice President, Atiku chose the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.
The decision of the PDP has seen members of the opposition party meet with Wike to woo him to their side ahead of the 2023 general elections.
An ally of Wike who spoke with Daily Trust on the view of the Rivers State Governor said his anger was increased when Atiku and the party ignored the recommendation of the advisory council to pick him as the vice-presidential candidate.
The ally said: “We’re weighing all options. Unfortunately, the party that refused to implement the recommendation of its committee on running mate will be talking about constituting a reconciliation committee. Who will take them seriously?”
He further stated that a crucial meeting of Wike’s camp earlier scheduled for this week has been shifted to next week.
The ally repeated, “we are weighing all options.”
