The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has screened the former Senate President and presidential aspirant, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, to contest its presidential primaries.
Naija News reports that the PDP’s presidential primaries is scheduled for May 28 and 29 in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The PDP Presidential Screening Committee, headed by former Senate President David Mark screened Saraki at the party’s presidential campaign headquarters, Legacy House in Abuja.
Other members of the screening committee are Celestine Omehia, Mike Ahamba (SAN), former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko; Edward Ashiekaa (SAN), and Hilda Makanto.
The aspirants that are yet to be screened include Atiku Abubakar (Adamawa), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto), Anyim Pius Anyim (Ebonyi), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Nyesom Wike (Rivers) and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom).
Others are Peter Obi (Anambra), Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti), Nwachukwu Anakwenze (Anambra), Dele Momodu (Edo), Mohammed Hayatu-Deen (Borno), Sam Ohuabunwa (Imo), Cosmos Ndukwe (Abia), Charles Ugwu (Enugu), Chikwendu Kalu (Abia) and Oliver Tareila Diana.
This news platform reports that the PDP is seeking to regain power from the All Progressives Congress after losing out in the 2015 and 2019 general elections.
The opposition party would hope to present the best presidential candidate in its plan to secure the votes of Nigerians in the 2023 presidential election.
