2023: APC Senator, Adamu Aliero Speaks On Defecting To PDP

Nigerian lawmaker, Adamu Aliero has debunked reports in some quarters that he had defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC to the People’s Democratic Party PDP.

Naija News understands that a close political ally to the former Kebbi State Governor, Sani Dodo had confirmed to TVC News in a telephone interview earlier that the lawmaker has formed an alliance with PDP.

Dodo told the news platform further that Aliero and all his political structures have decided to dump the APC and now join forces with the PDP ahead of the 2023 general elections.

However, Aliero has through his media aide, Abdullahi Zuru, denied joining PDP yet. He said they are only making necessary contacts and consultation with relevant stakeholders to cement their place in their new political party.

According to him, the Senator representing Kebbi central is making wide consultations and has stopped all processes relating to the earlier claim of defection to a party.

He said: “I can’t deny confirming such to you but shortly after the news, a new development came up so my principal stopped all the formal processes but will continue his wide consultations with his constituents, major stakeholders, interest groups and political allies”.

Zuru added that most people from Kebbi state are not happy with the way Bagudu is treating Aliero after making himself available many times for truce but all hit the rocks hence the reason lots of people concluded he has defected as earlier reported.

He disclosed further that meetings were held at Safar Guest in Birnin Kebbi to reach a stop on the next action but that for now, Aliero remains in APC.
