Ten Commanders of the Boko Haram terrorist group have been killed by troops of the multinational joint task force (MNJTF) in the Lake Chad area.
Apart from the commanders, many other Boko Haram fighters were also eliminated by the troops as confirmed in a statement on Sunday by the MNJTF spokesperson, Muhammad Dole.
Naija News reports the operations of the multinational joint task force (MNJTF) covers the Lake Chad basin area of Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon and Niger.
Speaking further on the coordinated land and air offensive operations by the troops, Dole said troops of ‘Operation Lake Sanity’ raided the insurgents’ hideouts in Zanari, Arina Woje, and other locations in the past week, resulting in the victory against the insurgents.
Several fabrication workshops belonging to the terrorists were destroyed and many dangerous weapons, foodstuff, and other materials were recovered and some destroyed immediately.
Some victims discovered in the dens of the terrorists have also been rescued by the troops.
“Some of the commanders include Abubakar Dan Buduma, Abubakar Shuwa, Abu Ali and Abu Jubrilla among others,” the spokesperson said.
“In the course of the operation, significant number of innocent citizens, mostly women and children held captive by the criminals, were rescued.
“Large quantities of foodstuff (grains), fuel dumps, illicit drugs, terrorists’ uniforms, and other household materials were recovered and destroyed immediately.”
However, one member of the civilian joint task force lost his life in the operations while 18 soldiers, including an officer, who were wounded have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
